WR targets for the Los Angeles Rams

Best WR targets for the Los Angeles Rams

By: Jake Rajala

The secret is out: the Los Angeles Rams want AJ Brown. Brown would likely be the WR2, across from Puka Nacua. Brown had 1,003 receiving yards and several touchdowns a season ago. He had a PFF grade of 83, which was 13th among wideouts. I believe that’s an excellent PFF grade given that he had to fight for catches with DeVonta Smith and that Jalen Hurts didn’t sling the ball a lot. With Brown, Davante Adams would be the best WR3 in the league. With the said, it’s not clear if the Rams will acquire Brown. So, I’m going to list many WR targets for the Rams, just incase the Rams can’t get Brown.

Tyreek Hill

Clearly, there is no ceiling on which WR the Rams can reel in. The former Miami Dolphin and Kansas City Chief Tyreek Hill is arguably the best free agent WR. Matter of fact, he may be the “best overall” free agent. Hill can shine with the jet sweeps that Sean McVay loves to do with Nacua. Matthew Stafford also have potent arm strength, which matches well with the deep speed of Hill. I would pick Hill to be their WR2 over Tae.

Brandon Aiyuk

Aiyuk is a top-notch WR1 in this league. He can juke out and jump over defenders. He recorded 1,342 receiving yards in 2024. He only played in several games last season. The biggest reason why Aiyuk wouldn’t be a Ram is that the 49ers and Rams play in the same division (NFC West). The Commanders have been rumored as a potential fit, as of late.

Brian Thomas Jr.

Obviously, there has been a lot of trade buzz surrounding the Jacksonville Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. The Rams could love to have Thomas Jr more than most trade targets at WR due to his youth (23 years old). I still believe the wideout that recorded 1,282 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024 is still somewhere in him. He had a PFF grade of 65.5 last season. That’s not his true potential. The Jags also have Travis Hunter at WR.

Stefon Diggs

McVay could squeeze out the remaining potential from Stefon Diggs. The “Mr. Minneapolis Miracle” could be a Pro Bowler in 2026 with McVay. Diggs was so close to winning a Lombardi trophy last season. He had 1,013 receiving yards last season. Furthermore, he registered a prolific PFF grade of 87.5, which was sixth among WRs! Diggs could be better than Brown. Although, he is 32 years old.

Chris Olave

I believe the New Orleans Saints WR Chris Olave would be the toughest WR to acquire via a trade on this list, but it’s a possibility. We’ve already seen the Saints ship away WR Rashid Shaheed. The Saints acquired RB Travis Etienne to join Alvin Kamara. They once traded Jimmy Graham for an OL (in Max Unger). Perhaps the Saints would trade Olave for an OL and get back to bullying defenses upfront.

DeAndre Hopkins

D-Hop is somewhat washed up (as he turns 34 in a couple of months), but he can play any spot on the field. He is also sure-handed. Hopkins may be looking to play for a Super Bowl contender at this point in his career. He tried to win a Super Bowl with Patrick Mahomes in 2024 and then Lamar Jackson last season. Perhaps Stafford will be the right QB to win it all with him. Hopkins had 330 yards a season ago. I believe he could improve as a WR3 with the MVP Matthew Stafford. Hopkins chose to

Jameson Williams

We witnessed the 6’0 WR Michael Pittman get surprisingly traded away from his 2025 team (Indianapolis Colts). Nothing should be a surprise right now. The former Alabama WR Jameson Williams is a maniac, but the Lions many wish to trade him for a defender. After all, the Lions ranked 22nd in PPG allowed last season. Williams had 1,117 receiving yards and seven touchdowns last season. He is also 24, so he has sky-high potential.

MVS

MVS is one of the best value pickups right now. He flipped between the 49ers and Steelers last season. He averaged 22.6 YPC in 2024 with the New Orleans Saints. MVS has home run speed at the WR spot. I believe the WR that would often torch defenses with the former MVP in Aaron Rodgers could be a deep threat with another MVP in Stafford. MVS could bring excellent depth and the ability to make magic happen from the McVay play-action game.

Curtis Samuel

Curtis Samuel was once one of the best versatile weapons in the league. He can take it from the slot and in the backfield. I’d love to see McVay get his hands on him. Samuel has been buried on the depth chart as of late. He unleashed 843 total yards in 2022. He could also contribute as a return specialist.
