7 best landing spots for Kenny Moore

Where should Kenny Moore play next?

By: Jake Rajala

Kenny Moore and the Indianapolis Colts have mutually agreed to seek a trade. He will likely seek a playoff bound team with a hole at CB, as he’s 30 years old. Moore recorded six pass deflections, two forced fumbles, an interception, 1.5 sacks, and a defensive touchdown last season. With that said, I’m going to lay out the best landing spots for him.

New Orleans Saints

No, I’m not bias about my Saints luring in Moore. They just make too much sense to land him. Alontae Taylor is gone. He was their nickel back. Taylor was an effective blitzer and man to man corner. Taylor had the most sacks among Saints defensive backs in history. Of course, the Saints had a winning record under Tyler Shough. I feel they can reach the playoffs with him.

Minnesota Vikings

Tavierre Thomas is the Vikings nickelback. He’s average at best. He only had 2 career interceptions, six career QB hits, and six tackles for loss. I will cut him some slack and say he did some damage with several forced fumbles and 262 career tackles. The Vikings also moved on from Harrison Smith, so it’s extra critical to have more talent on their back-end.

New York Jets

The Jets already brought in Demario Davis this offseason. Perhaps it’s time to improve their defense with another veteran addition. This could help heal the wound left by Sauce Gardner leaving. The current nickel-back is Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and he was a fifth round pick from their 2024 draft. He hasn’t quite looked like a steal thus far. He has one career interception right now.

Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions need to make their secondary as talented as their front seven. Roger McCreary is their current nickelback. He hasn’t lived up to his worth as a second round pick. He has three career interceptions. Furthermore, he had a PFF grade of 69.2 last season. That wasn’t daunting, to say the least.

Cleveland Browns

Myles Harden is the Browns starting nickelback. He hasn’t done a lot since entering the league as a seventh round pick in 2024. He has zero interceptions and two tackles for loss in two seasons. He had a PFF grade of 48.7 last season. This placed him at 108th among 114 defensive backs. Ouch.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jags actually have a modest nickelback in Jourdan Lewis. I’d still love to see them improve their secondary even more. It’s been noted that Travis Hunter will be a full-time cornerback. Moore could help slow down the likes of Alec Pierce, Calvin Ridley, and Nico Collins.

Indianapolis Colts

Perhaps the Colts and Moore can find a way to bury the hatchet and stay on the same side. After all, Moore is a crucial part of their locker room. They have Sauce Gardner in their unit already. They need to stay intact, so they have an elite secondary. He had a PFF grade of 66.7 last season.
