5 dark horse Super Bowl contenders

Dark horse Super Bowl contenders right now

By: Jake Rajala

The last week of the NFL regular season is upon us. The question is now: who is headed to the post-season? There are still a few more spots on the table. The bigger question is: who is headed to the Super Bowl? Well, I’m going to untwine five dark horse Super Bowl contenders.

Los Angeles Rams

The LA Rams took down the Buffalo Bills, who beat the Chiefs. The Rams are on a five game winning streak, too. The Rams can run the ball down the opponent’s throats with Kyren Williams, who has 1,299 rushing yards. They also are healthy at WR with Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Baker Mayfield was the biggest Pro Bowl snub, after he threw 39 touchdowns up to this point. The Baker-Mike Evans connection is one of the best QB-WR duos in the entire league. Evans just recorded another 1,000 yard season. Their front seven is still talented, which is led by Vita Vea.

Los Angeles Chargers

The LA Chargers have one of the most creative head coaches with Jim Harbaugh. They also have one of the best pass-rushing duos with Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa. Bosa has five sacks, while Mack carries six sacks. Derwin James is also a force on the back-end. The Chargers just dropped 40 points against the Pats.

Denver Broncos

If it wasn’t for a blocked field goal, the Broncos would have edged out the Chiefs. Similar to the Chargers, the Broncos have a genius at head coach, who is none other than Sean Payton. The Broncos also have one of the best NFL defenses (fifth in PPG allowed) and first in sacks with Vance Joseph calling the shots.

Washington Commanders

Washington Commanders are led out by the Offensive Rookie of The Year favorite, Jayden Daniels. Daniels can make freak plays – regardless of the talent of the defense facing him. It’s also nearly impossible to guard Scary Terry for four quarters. They are in the middle of the pack in sacks and PPG allowed. Thankfully, they have proven to win in shoot-outs.
