5 head coach destinations for Vance Joseph

Best destinations for Vance Joseph

By: Jake Rajala

Vance Joseph had some growing pains as the defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos. His defense surrendered 70 points to the Miami Dolphins in 2023! Flash forward to today, the Broncos ranked third in points allowed and first in sacks. With that said, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Joseph becomes an head coach again. Hence, I’m going to untwine the best destinations for Joseph.

Jacksonville Jaguars

I’m not quite sold on Liam Cohen, who has only been an offensive coordinator for two NFL seasons. Sure, he was putting up fireworks with Tampa – as they ranked third in yards and fourth in points last season. However, Cohen was also OC in 2022 for a Los Angeles offense that ranked 32nd in yards and 30th in points! Not only does Cohen have a roller coaster resume, but I’d be curious to see what a defensive mind at HC could do with the likes of Travon Walker and Arik Armstead.

Dallas Cowboys

I believe that elevating Brian Schottenheimer was a tad lazy and desperate. After all, the Boys offense ranked 26th in points and 24th in yards last season. I would arguably say that sticking with Mike McCarthy , who had three seasons of 12 wins, would be a better idea. Mike Zimmer was also brutal as the DC last season – as Dallas ranked 31st in points allowed! I’d love to see a new defensive-minded HC clean up.

Cleveland Browns

Jim Schwartz is an overrated defensive coordinator, to say the least. Kevin Stefanksi has also showed little production with a QB that was once an MVP favorite. Both of these faces would face the chopping block with another putrid season, which is on the horizon, after little change this off-season. Vance Joseph led a defense that ranked first in sacks last seasosn. He should be licking his chops at the possibility of garnering a lot more sacks in CLE.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders know first hand how prolific Vance Joseph’s defense is in the frigid AFC West. They may love to lure him to Las Vegas to unleash Maxx Crosby. The Raiders also ranked 25th in points allowed last season. He would also build the defense through the draft – right after he added Geno Smith and Raheem Mostert to the offense.

New York Giants

It’s crucial that they have a Top-10 defense – as they play in a division with the reigning Super Bowl Champions in Philaldelphia Eagles, a playoff contender in Washington Commanders, and against a healthy Dak Prescott. The Giants have a lot of quality pieces on their defense, such as Kavyon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns, and Paulson Adebo.
