Best trade spots for Jameis Winston
By: Jake Rajala
The GMEN drafted Jaxson Dart 25th overall. This will make him a member of a QB room that already showcased Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. Hence, I believe that Winston is the odd man out and could be dealt. Hence, I will untwine five trade destinations for Winston!
New York Jets
I’d love to see a third veteran join the Jets QB room. Justin Fields has a 13-40 record and hasn’t made a Pro Bowl. Tyrod Taylor is also 35 years old and is 4-7 in his last 11 starts. Winston could put up some fireworks in the Jets offense. The question is: can he take care of the football? If he can, then he could have a late career resurgence, similar to Geno Smith.
Denver Broncos
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”
Sean Payton once made Jameis Winston look like a true QB1. Winston was 5-2 under Payton, until his former team (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) tore Winston’s ACL. Winston will not beat out Bo Nix for the starting gig, but Winston could get another “Harvard” education with Payton.
Pittsburgh Steelers
I honestly believe that Winston would be a better answer at QB than Mason Rudolph. Rudolph isn’t a Top-40 QB. Winston could make more magic happen with Metcalf than the Rudolph-Metcalf duo in my opinion. If the Steelers don’t get A-Rod, it would make a ton of sense for them to fall back on an easier target.
Las Vegas Raiders
The mythical QB Tom Brady will see the best in every QB, whether it’s Shedeur Sanders or a veteran QB in their mid-30s. Well, there is a lot to like about Winston, such as his arm strength and throwing ability on the run. The Las Vegas Raiders should ship out Aidan O’Connell, which was expected, and bring in Winston. Plus, Aidan went 2-5 last season.
Miami Dolphins
The combination of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle’s deep speed with Winston’s arm strength would be quite intriguing. The Phins have their true franchise QB in Tua Tagoiloa, who has improved in each of his seasons. I also believe the experiment with Zach Wilson at QB2 isn’t worth it.
Honorable Mention
Tennesee Titans
We haven’t quite witnessed how Cam Ward will shape out to be in the NFL over an 18 week season. Will he win OROY? Or will he lose his starting gig? I believe it would be wise to bring in another face not named Will Levis, as Levis threw 13 touchdowns to 12 ints last season.
