Rodgers joins the Steelers

The future Hall of Famer, with a not-so-colorful personality, has officially joined the Pittsburgh Steelers. He made it clear he didn’t want to join the Saints, so it seemed like there was one place left: Pittsburgh. So, the question is: what are the Steelers getting in Aaron Rodgers?
Rodgers has been on a dark quest as of late. In 2022, he went 8-9, which wasn’t near enough to win the division. He also threw 26 TDs to 12 ints. He only played in one game in 2023. Last season, Rodgers didn’t prove that he was much better than his 2022 version in 2024. He unleashed a 5-12 record and threw 28 TDs to 11 ints. His TD% in 2024 was 4.8 – which was the same TD% he had in 2022.
I don’t love Rodgers’s weapons. I thought it was quite surprising that the Steelers traded away George Pickens. He needed a quality WR2. At least, DK Metcalf will be in Rodgers’s box of tricks.
To me, it’s hard to say that Rodgers is in a noticeably better situation than last season. Furthermore, the Steelers play in a much more difficult division (AFC North) than his division last season (AFC East). Finally, my last concern with the Steelers signing Rodgers, is that Rodgers isn’t a long-term answer. Matter of fact, the 41-year-old will most likely retire after this upcoming season.
Rogers may not be a Pro Bowler in this upcoming season, but I really believe he’s an upgrade over Mason Rudolph and even Justin Fields. Well, we are able to judge who has the edge: Rodgers or Fields, because they will face off in Week 1! Don’t be surprised if one or even both QBs struggle, as they are still grasping their new system.
I’d love to see Fields throttle Rodgers, due to his impossible ability to like him. I love his work ethic, but he needs to have a better filter. Mike Tomlin, who is a future Hall of Fame HC, may be able to tap into the best version of Rodgers, on and off the field. I’d love to see Rdogers’s locker right next to T.J. Watt’s locker!
