What to expect from Jaire Alexander

As widely reported, Jaire Alexander is no longer a Packer. Alexander was reported as a cap casualty (as he was paid 17.5 million) and they failed to find a trade partner. So, the question is: is Alexander washed up?
I don’t believe that Alexander is washed up. I still believe his situation looking for a new home isn’t the same case for Marshon Lattimore getting the best fit for him. Lattimore was dealt for a third round pick and a fourth-round pick, while the Saints would throw in a fifth round pick along with Lattimore. Lattimore is still in the prime of his career. On 257 coverage snaps, he has only allowed eight catches in his direction. To be fair, Lattimore is 29 years old and injury prone, however.
Alexander will shine with a one year contract in my opinion. He didn’t fall off a cliff last season. He registered a PFF grade of 75.2. Matter of fact, he has never recorded a PFF grade in a single season below 73! He earned his contract as the highest paid defensive back in the league, in my opinion.
He will have plenty of suitors in FA. He has been linked to the Saints, Bills, and Dolphins. I expect him to pursue a Lombardi trophy, which could most likely happen with the Bills.
It wouldn’t be a complete surprise if he returns to the Pack in the near future. He has chemistry in Green Bay and he is the missing link in their defense.
With Alexander gone, they will have to shift their focus to replacing him. Stephon Gilmore would be an admirable choice. Carlton Davis is another fine option. Of course, many of the free agent CBs are quite old. I expect the Packers to draft a CB early in the 2026 draft (after going WR in round 1 of 2025).
