Best TEs the Bills should target
By: Jake Rajala
The Bills don’t only need help at wide receiver, but they also could use a receiving threat at TE. Hence, I’m going to untwine five TEs the Bills should target.
Kyle Pitts
Kyle Pitts has been a hot trade candidate over the past few months. Pitts was a bit sluggish last season. So, this somewhat makes him a diamond in the rough. PFF ranked him 33rd out of 37th. Ouch. I want to see him utilized more from the slot and then out wide for jump balls in the endzone.
Juwan Johnson
Juwan Johnson can make circus catches, but they can afford to move him for draft picks, as they are in a slight rebuild. Instead of moving Olave, they should move Juwan. They have Foster Moreau at TE, plus three quality WRs (Olave, Shaheed, and Cooks). Johnson hasn’t been consistent, anyhow.
Cole Kmet
The Bills TE hasn’t completely grown up. He is still seeking a Pro Bowl berth, despite playing amazing on occasion. Cole is also a talented TE who struggled last season (as he had a 60.6 PFF grade). Kmet recorded 719 and six TDs in 2023, after unveiling six TDs in 2022.
David Njoku
The Browns could ship out David Njoku, as the Browns are in a rebuild mode. David has vertical speed, similar to that of Vernon Davis. Njoku notched 882 yards in 2023 and then 505 yards in 11 games last season! He is still 28, which isn’t old in TE years.
Cade Otton
Cade Otton is a modest weapon. He hauled in 600 yards and four TDs last season. He has proven to be a steal for being drafted in the fourth round. The Bucs still have future Hall of Famer Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and 2025 first-round pick Emeka Egbuka to make serious magic happen.
The Bills need a TE with deep speed, which would connect well with Allen’s arm strength. A fast TE could also find space to get open when Allen leaves the pocket. Plus, Baltimore and Kansas City each have a prolific pass catching TE to work the middle of the field.
