Deebo Samuel trade outlook

Deebo Samuel was once regarded as one of the most versatile, explosive skill players. He brought back memories of Percy Harvin, who could play running back and wide receiver. After all, he had two seasons for 1,110+ total yards. His best season arrived in 2021, which he unleashed 1,170 combined yards. He was named first-team All-Pro in the same season.
Samuel recorded 806 total yards, which was his worst figure since 2020. It’s also worth noting he only played in several games in 2020. Hence, it’s safe to say he wasn’t dangerous last season.
We should expect more holes and space for Deebo to thrive. PSFN dubs the Washington OL as the seventh-best unit in the league, while they also rank the 49ers as the 15th-best OL!
Honestly, I really like this trade. I would give it a B.
Jayden Daniels will be able to do a lot of read options with Deebo. Just as Lamar Jackson opened room for Derrick Henry, it’s safe to say that Deebo will be able to hit the hole with little contact.
I expect him to only play a couple of more seasons. Similar to the elite Washington CB Marshon Lattimore, they are on the doorstep of turning 30!
I believe it was wise for SF to ship away Deebo. They still have Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk, and Ricky Pearsall. The 49ers would also need to sign Deebo after this season, which isn’t favorable for an old 29-year-old. It wouldn’t fit in their plan after signing Brock Purdy for a long-term deal.
The 49ers obviously got the Samuel contract out of their books, but they also got a fifth-round pick. If they can make magic happen with their 7th-round pick, perhaps they can get a WR or RB in the round that can be a successful player.
