WR targets for the Browns
By: Jake Rajala
The Cleveland Browns could benefit from another modest (at minimum) wide receiver to join their ranks. This will also help their yet, to be determined starting quarterback. With that said, I’m going to unfold five WR targets for them.
Josh Downs
Josh Downs would have eclipsed 1k yards last season if he didn’t miss three games, in my opinion. Downs is one of the best WR3s in the league. He can run any route and line up on the slot or out-wide. PFF gave Downs a grade of 84.8, which is 12th in the league. Yet, he’s still somewhat in the shadow of Michael Pittman and Alec Pierce.
Amari Cooper
Not only is Amari Cooper the best WR on the market, but he also has chemistry with Kevin Stefanski and the Browns. Cooper had a career-high 1,250 receiving yards with CLE in 2023. I refuse to believe that Cooper is washed up at 31 years old, even if he’s beat up.
Christian Watson
Christian Watson is sort of the odd man out for the Packers WR group, especially with Matthew Golden coming on board. Watson averaged 21.4 YPC last season, which is quite appealing for a WR3. The Pack are also unlikely to break the bank for him in 2026, as he’s in a contract season.
Garrett Wilson
I sincerely don’t believe that Christian Watson will ever make the Pro Bowl or All-Pro team with Justin Fields at QB. He won OROY, but he hasn’t had any honors since then. He doesn’t have Davante Adams with him, so he should have the most targets on the team. Will it be enough?
Fields averaged 184 passing yards per game last season. Wilson still has a lot of athletic ability, but he can’t stay in the big apple, if he wants to be a 1,200 yd WR and get a hefty contract.
OBJ
Similar to Cooper, OBJ once unleashed his best effort to be a successful Cleveland Brown. OBJ had 1,035 yards in one season with the Browns. OBJ could be a modest WR2 right now. I believe his best days are behind him, but he could still be an x-factor. His knee injury in the Super Bowl really set him back.
