Potential trade destinations for Micah Parsons
By: Jake Rajala
Micah Parsons has been discouraged with his contract situation. He wants to see the same energy toward him that T.J. Watt and Maxx Crosby are feeling. Parsons has been a pillar of consistent dominance. He was first team All-Pro as a rookie and first team AP as a sophomore. He has still been a Pro Bowl-caliber player over the prior two seasons. With that said, it’s plausible that his distaste ends in separate ways. Hence, I’m going to list potential trade destinations for Micah.
San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers brought in edge rusher Mykel Williams with their 11th overall pick. I don’t expect him to flip their ranking from 23rd in sacks to a Top-10 team in sacks. I also don’t like their OLBs in Dee Winters and Nick Martin. Parsons can pass rush anywhere on the DL and play alongside Fred Warner, as well. They play in one of the most competitive divisions in the league. This simply adds up to point out that they need another prominent defender. Plus, they are 3rd in cap space!
New Orleans Saints
Middle Linebacker Demario Davis and edge rusher Cameron Jordan will both likely retire after this upcoming season. I just hope they don’t follow in Tyrann Mathieu’s foot-steps and retire in training camp. Well, Parsons can help heal the shoes left by Jordan and by Davis. Tyler Shough and Parsons can grow together. The Saints have 22 million, so they can afford to reel in Parsons.
Washington Commanders
The Commanders may not be President Trump’s favorite team. Nonetheless, they have been hell-bent when it comes to acquiring talent. They brought in Von Miller, but I don’t see him as a 10 sack figure anymore. Bobby Wagner and Parsons would also be quite dangerous together. Of course, they also brought in Deebo Samuel and appear to be keeping Terry McLaurin.
Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions have young, elite talent on their roster, particularly on offense. It’s time for the Lions to acquire cream of the crop defenders, especially given the fact that they have many injury prone figures on defense. The Lions defense was gashed by a B-level Commanders offense in the playoffs. It also helps the Lions have the second most cap space in the league to acquire Parsons.
Las Vegas Raiders
Maxx Crosby and Parsons would be the best edge-rushing tandems in the league. Parsons would also have a nice home at any of the LB spots, too. The Raiders witnessed three teams in their division make the playoffs. They have to make more moves so they aren’t a losing team.
