Trey Lance potential trade destinations

Lance trade spots

Trey Lance signed a one year deal worth 6.2 million dollars with the Chargers this off-season. I still regard him as one of the best back-up QBs in the league. He was a bit of a project coming into the NFL. Well, I believe he will prove to be a QB that could compete for a starting gig. With that said, I’m going to unfold trade destinations for Lance.

New York Jets

Justin Fields ran a 4.44 and Lance ran a 4.45 at the NFL Combine. They clearly have identical speed. I believe that Lance has slightly more arm strength, however. I believe the most knowledgeable of the playbook would be the QB1. Fields was benched last season and he has struggled to stay healthy. I don’t believe he would run away with the starting gig.

Indianapolis Colts

Anthony Richardson and Lance do many of the same things. That should make the playbook flexible for each QB. Daniel Jones was brought in to push Richardson for the gig. Well, I wouldn’t quite say Danny Dimes is a quality starting QB. All he has done is thrown 10 TDs to 13 ints in the last two seasons combined. Richardson has completed around half his passes, which is atrocious.

New England Patriots

It would be an understatement to say Drake Maye was the worst Pro Bowler last season. Not only did he throw only 15 TDs to 10 ints, but he led his team to a 3-9 record. We all remember Mac Jones make the Pro Bowl as a rookie, and then it was downhill from there. Dare I say that Maye will follow in similar steps?

New Orleans Saints

There is plenty of time left for Trey Lance to enter the Saints QB battle. Lance can utilize the deep threats (Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave) nicely. He can also use his legs, similar to Taysom Hill. Lance is still 25 years old, which is the same age as Tyler Shough.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers QB outlook is a bit murky. Are we getting the Bryce Young that was benched early last season? Or are we getting the Bryce Young that had 10 TDs to 0 ints in his last three games? I believe it’s best to play it safe and have a quality QB2.
