Kenny Clark reflection
By: Jake Rajala
The world knows that Micah Parsons is on the Green Bay Packers. However, let’s not forget that an elite player not named Parsons was in the trade, as well. That player was none other than Kenny Clark.
Clark is far from a slouch. Jerry Jones wanted to improve their run defense, and Clark will do that. He is a three-time Pro Bowl selection. To be honest, Clark did not have the best 2024 season. Nonetheless, his 2023 season was quite magical. In 2023, he recorded a career-high 7.5 sacks, personal best 16 QB hits, and a career-high 9 TFLs. Clark can get after the passer and create pressure.
The Boys were 29th in rushing yards allowed last season. It was safe to say they had to fix their run defense.
I believe Clark is underrated. I still believe they didn’t improve their run defense with this move. They must have to realize Parsons was their top run defender.
Let’s also not forget that they moved on from Demarcus Lawrence this off-season, as well. He was a TFL machine.
Given that they need an edge rusher, I’d love to see them reel in one. I would have to say that Jadeveon Clowney should be their top priority. Clowney can dismantle foes in the run and pass game. He also has a few years left in him.
Perhaps they were hoping that Aaron Donald or J.J. Watt would come out of retirement. All jokes aside, it seems head-scratching that they would trade away an elite run defender, who just happens to be 26 years old. I would have liked to see Parsons traded to a team like Cincinnati or Pittsburgh and gain Trey Hendrickson or T.J. Watt in return.
