5 things we learned from the Jaguars-Bengals game

Reflecting on Jaguars-Bengals game

By: Jake Rajala

The Cincinnati Bengals-Jaguars showdown is in the books. It was quite sloppy, to be fair. Joe Burrow also left the game with a toe injury. With that said, I’m going to do five reflections on the game.

Travis Hunter, where art thou?

The Jags are heavily invested in Travis Hunter. Well, he hasn’t proven his worth just yet. He had three grabs for 23 yards on Sunday. He had two tackles on defense and was modest at coverage. I’d like to see him reach the end zone.

The Bengals need a proper QB2

The Bengals backup QB, Jake Browning, was far from sexy in Week 2. After Burrow left, Browning came in. He threw three interceptions. Yikes. Burrow has missed a lot of time before, so they should have invested in a quality QB2 already. We witnessed the likes of Mac Jones dominate from the QB2 spot for San Francisco.

Travis Etienne is a stud

Travis Etienne looks like a Pro Bowl back. Of course, he had a rocky start to his career. Etienne had 71 rushing yards on 14 carries. This comes after having 143 rushing yards in Week 1. Etienne has to share some pixy dust with Travis Hunter.

Ja’Marr Chase looks like a Top-3 WR

Ja’Marr Chase didn’t scare anybody in Week 1. Well, he is back in Week 2. He recorded 165 yards and a touchdown today. He looked like a smart dynasty pick. If Burrow misses time, I expect Browning to constantly feed Chase the ball.

Trey Hendrickson deserves his contract

Hendrickson had a sack and a ton of pressure in Week 1. Well, he notched another sack in Week 2. He will certainly be in contention to be the sack king down the stretch. When the games turn into shootouts, Hendrickson can pin his ears back and get after the opposing QBs.

The Bengals are well known for having slow starts to the regular season. Well, that hasn’t been the case in 2025. Cincy is 2-0 and they have their sights on being the AFC North Champion. They last won their division in 2022. The Jags are young and still growing. Their division is somewhat weak. I expect a team around .500 to win the AFC South.
