Will Rodgers stay another season?

The future Hall of Fame quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, is following in Tom Brady’s footsteps by playing in his early 40s. We all witnessed TB12 win a Super Bowl his second to last season. So, the question is: will Rodgers stay another season in Pittsburgh and reel in another Lombardi trophy?

It’s unclear whether A-Rod will play another season, but he has made it clear that he wants to retire a Packer. He has “nothing but love” for the Packers nation.

Rodgers has notched a 64.3 PFF grade thus far, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. He has 14 passing TDs, which is fifth among QBs.

Honestly, I expect the Steelers and Rodgers to try and run it back. Just as the Bucs added AB and Gronk, the Steelers need to add more ammunition for Rodgers. They already brought in DK Metcalf, but it can’t stop there. Darnell Washington has potential at TE, as he’s a load to bring down, as he’s 6’7, 280 pounds. They also carry Jaylen Warren, who is a prolific pass catcher at RB.

Of course, they have the future Hall of Famers in T.J. Watt and Jalen Ramsey, who want to win a Super Bowl in Pittsburgh. They may want to leave if Rodgers leaves and they fail to bring in a QB to “win now”.

They made a mistake in trading George Pickens in my opinion. All he has done in Dallas is record 607 yards and six TDs in 2025.

If Rodgers decides to retire after this season, the Steelers will have a very rare and difficult time. They will likely not have a quality FA signing that’s as promising as Rodgers was last offseason. There won’t be a Rodgers, Brady, or Peyton Manning caliber QB available.

It will be a serious challenge to find a QB late in round one or beyond round 1 to star for them right away. It makes some sense for the Steelers to bring back Russell Wilson, who led them to the playoffs last season.

The Steelers 2026 outlook is murky. They are looking at a rebuild for the first time under Mike Tomlin, if Rodgers opts to hang up his cleats. Hopefully, Rodgers can finish on a high note and the rich franchise in the Steelers can move on properly from A-Rod.
