Is Chris Johnson a future Hall of Famer?

Will CJ2K reach the Hall of Fame?

By: Jake Rajala

The former Tennessee Titans legend, Chris Johnson, also known as CJ2K, was one of the most explosive running backs of all time. He was drafted by the Titans with their 24th overall pick in 2008. He started his legend with his 40 yard dash time, which was 4.24. His 40 time was the second fastest time ever. Only John Ross eclipsed his 40 time, as he ran a 4.22 40 yard time.

With that enunciated, a pivotal question surrounds CJ2K: Is he a future Hall of Famer?

Johnson made three straight Pro Bowls to launch his career. He mythical season was in 2009, where he ran for 2,006 yards and 14 touchdowns. He had a 91 yard run in 2009, which was the longest run by a RB in the season. His efforts didn’t go unnoticed. He won OPOY in 2009, which shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Johnson didn’t only wreak havoc in 2008 and 2009. He had a 1k+ yard season in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. Johnson wasn’t quite able to extend his dominance after his Titans tenure. He only registered 663 yards in the Big Apple with the Jets. He did average 74 YPG in 2015, but he wasn’t able to stay healthy for the entire season. He was MIA in 2016 (95 yards) and 2017 (114) rushing YPG.

Johnson has inspired others to succeed at the RB spot in Tennessee after his Titans campaign. Someone by the name of Derrick Henry came along and showed greatness for the Titans. He even ran for 2k+ yards, as well.

Johnson didn’t have many All-Pro nods, unfortunately. He also only has three Pro Bowls to his name. Wiith that said, I don’t believe he deserves to be in Canton. Sure, Terrell Davis only ran for 1k+ yards on four instances. Well, Davis has two OPOY trophies and not one. Furthermore, Davis has a Super Bowl ring in his pocket.

Johnson is still a Titans legend, even if he hasn’t had enough production or Championships in his resume. I expect him to be cast into the Titans Ring of Honor.
