Will Kamara go in the Saints Ring of Honor?
By: Jake Rajala
The New Orleans Saints running back, Alvin Kamara, was one of the biggest surprises in his rookie season, after being drafted in the third round. He was expected to be a modest pass catching running back. He proved to be an elusive, powerful RB, too. He recorded 1,554 total yards as a rookie. This led him to win OROY and be named second team All-Pro.
Kamara has been nothing short of a nightmare to bring down for defenders in open space. He had made five Pro Bowls in his career. He has notched 12,198 total yards in his career and 86 career touchdowns. With that said, Kamara is on his last legs and he will likely retire within 2-3 seasons.
The ultimate question surrounding Kamara is: Will Kamara go in the Saints Ring of Honor?
I would say that AK deserves to be in the Saints Ring of Honor. I would peg Kamara has a future Hall of Famer and the best Saints RB of all time. If he can make it into Canton, he should have a real shot of making it into Saints paradise. He is similar to Darren Sproles, Pierre Thomas, and Reggie Bush. I would just say Kamara has been on the Saints longer, and he has stayed healthy.
It would have been more fortunate to see Kamara win a Super Bowl in his career. I can’t imagine he will win one with the current Saints team. They will likely have a 2026 rookie and they will most likely witness Cameron Jordan and Demario Davis retire.
Kamara is still piling on stats and improving his resume. He is currently the Saints all-time rushing yard leader. Interestingly, he hasn’t even ran for 1k yards in a single season. He is also the rushing touchdown leader. I’m not even noting how prolific he is as a receiving back!
Kamara ran for six touchdowns on a Christmas before. I’d love to see him go out swinging and have another six touchdown day before he hangs up his cleats.
