Philip Rivers comes out of retirement

It’s official: Philip Rivers signs with the Indianapolis Colts practice squad, and he’s coming out of retirement. He won’t let age define him, as he’s 44 years old. Tom Brady retired at 45 years old, so let’s just say that Rivers has another year to sling it.
I have to imagine that Rivers is the true starting QB over Riley Leonard. Rivers may need to sit a week to get acclimated, but he should be the sure fire QB1 in their tight matchups down the stretch.
With that said, is it wise to bring in Rivers to one’s fantasy team?
I do.
Daniel Jones has had a lot of success, and Rivers may have more arm talent than him. Danny Dimes has recorded five games of 20+ points. It’s not that sexy, but it shows there’s some firepower there. Jonathan Taylor is arguably the best RB in the league and he won’t hold the Colts to many third and long situations.
Alec Pierce and Michael are arguably the most underrated WR tandem in the NFL. I may be slightly bias as I have Pierce on my FF team. Pierce has 769 yards. I fully expect him to eclipse 1k yards. Pittman Jr has 699 yards and seven touchdowns on the season.
An OL is a QB’s best friend. Well, the Colts rank 10th in sacks allowed. Rivers should be able to use his experience to give himself the best pass protection, too.
I wouldn’t rely on Rivers beyond 2025, but he can help a team make a strong playoff run. He could have a similar outcome that Jacoby Brissett has had for the Arizona Cardinals in my opinion. Yes, I also added Brissett off waivers and have started him each week.
I don’t expect Rivers to play like an All-Pro, but he could be a Top-15 QB. I believe Rivers could get at least 20 points a game.
