5 takeaways from the Browns-Steelers contest

Browns-Steelers reflection

By: Jake Rajala

The Cleveland Browns knocked out the Pittsburgh Steelers at the dog pound by a score of 13-6. With that said, I’m going to lay out five things we learned from the showdown.

Myles Garrett

It was a tragic day for Myles Garrett. He wasn’t able to secure a sack for the sack record. He was often double and even triple-teamed in the game. Garrett has 22 sacks on the season. He has a PFF grade of 92.7, which is first in the league.

The Suspended DK Metcalf

With DK Metcalf suspended, the Steelers needed other weapons to rise up. Jonnu Smith had the most catches (5), while Pat Freiermuth recorded the most receiving yards (63). Scott Miller had three catches for 25 yards. MVS had three grabs for 21 yards. A big story on the night was Darnell Washington breaking his arm.

Turnovers

The Browns defense may have only had two sacks on the day. Well, they were still attacking the ball nicely. They had three forced fumbles. It seemed like Gregg Williams was in Cleveland again. I would have also liked to see them intercept Rodgers at least once.

Shedeur Sanders

Shedeur Sanders should make a gift for his entire defense in this holiday season. He threw two interceptions and took a couple of bad sacks. Yet, his defense only allowed six points from A-Rod and the Steelers offense. He still made a couple of nice deep throws, however.

Field Goals

It was a battle of field goals on the rugged Sunday. The Steelers kicker (Chris Boswell) notched a pair of field goals. Meanwhile the Browns kicker (Andre Szmyt) had a couple of FGs, as well. It was a classic defensive battle between two AFC North teams.

Due to the Browns taking down the Steelers, the Ravens have a real shot at making the playoffs. The Steelers and Ravens will battle in the last week of the season. The winner rides into the postseason.
