Ranking the second year QBs

Where do the second year QBs rank?

By: Jake Rajala

The second year quarterback group is quite legit. There is Cam Ward, Jaxson Dart, Tyler Shough, Shedeur Sanders, Quinn Ewers. Well, I’m going to rank these QBs.

Quinn Ewers

Quinn Ewers made some flashes with the Miami Dolphins. Ewers threw three touchdowns to three interceptions. He went 1-3. He wasn’t like Johnny Manziel or Jamarcus Russell. Nonetheless, the Dolphins didn’t have a lot of faith in him and broke the bank for former Packers QB Malik Willis. I don’t love that the Phins traded Jaylen Waddle. This puts a lot of stress on any QB that starts in Miami.

Shedeur Sanders

Somebody needs to tell Shedeur Sanders that he isn’t Archie Manning. He takes way too many pathetic sacks. CLE averaged 3 sacks allowed per game. PFF ranked him as the 42nd QB among 43s. Sanders does still have arm talent and some speed. The Browns did take some steps this offseason to help Sanders. They drafted KJ Concepcion in the second round and Denzel Boston in the third round.

Cam Ward

As a Saints fan, I witnessed the “wow” moments from Cam Ward in their matchup last season. He can really sling it, especially on the run. He threw 15 touchdowns. It may seem like it’s not fair to judge Ward, given that he didn’t have impressive weapons to play with. Well, Ward will have a new, stud from OSU by the name of Carnell Tate. Tate can be an All-Pro wideout.

Jaxson Dart

Jaxson Dart has an interesting personality. He loves Star Wars and President Trump. He has a lot of promise as a QB, even if he went 4-8. He threw 15 touchdowns to five interceptions. He earned a PFF grade of 67.9 last season. Dart can throw an impressive deep throw and he can stay consistent to keep his team alive in any game. The GMEN added OBJ and they should welcome Malik Nabers back, too.

Tyler Shough

No, I’m not bias. Tyler Shough really improved from his first preseason to his last game as a starter. Shough went 5-4 as the QB1. He also didn’t have much help, outside of Chris Olave. Thankfully, he has Jordyn Tyson in his corner now. Shough may be 26 years old, but that doesn’t mean he can’t play for another ten years!

This group of QBs is impressive and it means we have a strong future of QBs on our hands. I hope these QBs can excel with more help.
