Cole Kmet trade destinations
By: Jake Rajala
Cole Kmet may have had some success in this league. This doesn’t mean he’s the best fit in Chi-town. Matter of fact, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox pleads for Chicago to ship him out. So, I’m going to lay out the best fits for him.
Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams love to make blockbuster trades. They acquired Davante Adams a couple of seasons ago. Perhaps they want to acquire another weapon in Kmet. It also doesn’t hurt that Kmet is 27 years old. He can grow old with Ty Simpson and Puka Nacua.
Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers don’t have Greg Olsen at tight end anymore. They need a spark at their TE spot right now. If they want to figure out whether Bryce Young is their true franchise QB, they need to give him some toys to work with. Tommy Tremble isn’t the answer at TE for them, to say the least.
Kansas City Chiefs
Travis Kelce, otherwise known as Taylor Swift’s husband, is a highly gifted tight end. However, he’s human. He is 36 years old! I can’t imagine that he plays beyond this upcoming season. He won’t catch Aaron Rodgers in age. Kmet can be the future of the TE spot in Kansas City. The Chiefs also don’t have a spectacular group of WRs. They could benefit from another quality pass catcher.
Pittsburgh Steelers
It’s all or nothing. The Steelers need to make sure Aaron Rodgers is well-equipped for his last ride. They brought in Michael Pittman to join DK Metcalf. I’d love to see them keep the pedal to the metal and acquire another toy. Pat Freiermuth merely recorded 486 yards and four touchdowns last season. I would say he’s an average TE.
Cleveland Browns
The Browns moved on from David Njoku this offseason. Harold Fannin Jr. has progressed well, as he had 731 yards and six touchdowns last season. I’d still love to see more talent there, especially with struggles documented on the offense in camp.
Honorable Mention:
San Francisco 49ers
George Kittle may be one of the most talented players in the league. However, he has had some injuries. Furthermore, the 49ers could use more red zone threats with Ricky Pearsall, Brandon Aiyuk, and Jauan Jennings gone. Acquiring another weapon like Kmet can propel Brock Purdy to another level, which could be MVP worthy.
