Why the Jets will miss the playoffs

The J-E-T-S were abysmal last season. They went 3-14. Ouch. Not only did they have a poor showcase last season, but they traded away Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Willams. They have a lot of work to do if they want to return to the post-season. With that said, I’m not entirely convinced they will return to the playoffs. Here’s why.
- Geno Smith
Geno Smith has been on a roller coaster in his career. He was a failure early in his football journey. Then he had one of the more impressive comebacks with the Seattle Seahawks. Then he fell off a cliff with the Las Vegas Raiders. He unveiled 15 interceptions in 2024 and then 17 ints in 2025! To make matters worse, the Jets don’t exactly have weapons to carry him.
- Pass rush
I love the Jets move in bringing back Demario Davis. However, he’s not a superb pass rusher. The Jets need more pass rush help. The Jets were 31st in sacks last season! Will McDonald IV had 8 sacks last season, but he needs help. They missed out on Jadeveon Clowney and Cam Jordan. Perhaps they could bring in Von Miller.
- Division
The AFC East is one of the most underrated divisions. The New England Patriots had 14 wins last season and the Buffalo Bills had 12 wins last season. The Pats arguably got better with the addition of AJ Brown. The third place team in the division was the Miami Dolphins. They upgraded their QB spot with the signing of Malik Willis. I’m saying that it will be very hard to be a Top-2 AFC East squad. Even the Dolphins will put up a fight for the third spot.
The AFC East is a gutsy, talented division in the AFC. There has to be a worst place squad and I believe it’s the Jets. They are just flat out rebuilding and they have been doing that since last season. With that said, I hope they can turn it around.
