What we learned from the Saints-Rams contest

It was a dandy between the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams today. It was in the warm California weather. We’ve seen some intense battles between these two teams in the regular season and obviously in the playoffs. With that said, I’m going to lay out some things we learned from the Saints-Rams showdown.
Kendre Miller
Kendre Miller reminds me a lot of former Saint Khiry Robinson. They are both angry and powerful runners. Kellen Moore really wanted to shake the dust off Robinson in this game. It should be known that the Saints have had backup OL in the game, as well. I didn’t like that Miller was playing in the second half, however. He is somewhat injury prone. They also need him with Alvin Kamara injured.
Saints edge rushers
I really wish the Saints featured the Saints starting edge rushers. I would like to see one of them at least. Of course, I’m talking about Chase Young, Carl Granderson, and Cameron Jordan. To be fair, Jordan is 36 years old, so he needs to stay fresh for the season. Young is also injury prone, so it’s also smart to keep him away from a lot of game action.
Stetson Bennett
The Saints pass defense was shaky today. They started out with a modest effort against Stetson Bennett. Then they made Bennett look like Kurt Warner. The Saints defense was lacking chemistry, esecially when second and third strings came in the game. Stetson finished with 19 for 31, two rushing touchdowns, and 181 passing yards.
Spencer Rattler
Spencer Rattler didn’t capitalize off Zach Wilson having a mediocre game against the Rams. Wilson was up and down and threw an interception. Rattler threw a pick-six. The sad part is that it came after he had a few very impressive throws. At least, Rattler is in his third season. He still has a lot of potential.
Tyler Shough
It was the second straight game that we haven’t seen Tyler Shough. I’m still delighted to see him lead the pre-game chant for the second contest. Perhaps we can see him next week, even if it is for a series or two series. Shough has really shined in training camp. We want him to show he can dominate in game action.
