Will OBJ survive roster cuts?

Could OBJ survive roster cuts soon?

By: Jake Rajala

The 53 man roster will be finalized soon. Many football players get invited to the coach’s offense to hear that their football dream is made and they made the 53 man roster. Other players hear the dreadful news and some tears come that they didn’t make the roster. One of the most fascinating figures in sports is none other than Odell Beckham Jr. Of course, he returned to the New York Giants this offseason. That was where it started it all.

Odell has already been in the spotlight for putting a couple of impressive moments this off-season. He put on a shifty move on a defender and then another dazzling one handed catch.

With that all said, the pivotal question is: can he make the 53-man roster?

Yes, the fan base would be ecstatic if Odell officially returned. They could shake the dust off their OBJ jerseys.

The biggest issue is that OBJ just hasn’t performed at a very high level in recent memory. He didn’t play in 2025 and then he had nine catches in 2024. He must be on the same schedule as former legendary WR Michael Thomas.

OBJ is the sixth WR on the depth chart in my opinion. He comes right after Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, Calvin Austin, Darnell Mooney, and Malachi Fields. There is some gifted, young WRs in this group.

I don’t love his chances to make the 53 man roster. However, I believe there’s room on the practice squad. He could step in if a WR gets injured. He is too old to be a quality trade piece. He may make the roster if they trade away one of their first five WRs, such as Darnell Mooney.

Of course, he could get signed by another team, while he’s on the practice squad. There are many teams that believe “he still has it”. Hopefully, he can make big plays in key moments, just as he caught a touchdowns in the Super Bowl.
