Best replacements for Aaron Glenn

It would be an understatement to say I don’t have a lot of trust in Aaron Glenn. His area of expertise is pass defense. Well, his defense had zero interceptions last season. To make matters worse, he is giving the keys to the offense to Geno Smith. He led the league in interceptions last season with 17. I assume everything will fall apart by mid-season. Hence, I’m going to lay out potential replacements for Aaron Glenn.

Sean McDermott

Sean McDermott is the best available head coach. That’s not debatable. He had a record of 98-50. I would like to see him get 100+ wins before he fully retires. The downfall of his career is that he never won a Super Bowl. Nonetheless, his team was always competitive in playoffs. Josh Allen also won MVP under him. His defense was allways stout, too. He is currently helping Ben Johnson out.

Vance Joseph

Vance Joseph is one of the most underrated defensive minds in football. His defense led the league in sacks last season. He only had a short stint as an head coach with a putrid QB situation. I’d love to see him get another opportunity as a ring leader.

Kliff Kingsbury’

Kliff Kingsbury is the right hand man to Sean McVay, as he’s their assistant head coach. He has really shined with quarterbacks in his career. He is the best man to fix Smith. If he can’t do that, he could find a superb QB in the next off-season. He was Top-10 in YPG on three occassions. Kyler Murray and Jayden Daniels were OROY under him.

More roster cuts are coming today in the NFL and the Buffalo Bills have announced they are cutting QB Kliff Kingsbury.

Eric Bieniemy

I believe Eric Bieniemy deserves his shot at some point. Andy Reid, who is an elite head coach, clearly sees greatness in him. Eric works with the best QB in the league on a daily basis. It would be great to see Eric join the Jets before the 2027 off-season, so he could get to work right away.

Jon Gruden

Jon Gruden remains a popular figure in the football world. This doesn’t mean he didn’t make a mistake in the emails. Nonetheless, everybody deserves a second chance. Gruden is one of the best QB gurus in the sport. It’s no surprise that he won a Super Bowl!

Honorable Mention:

Brandon Staley

Brandon Staley orchestrated a Saints defense that was elite in the second half of last season. He also has head coach experience. He could wreak havoc if he could get a quality QB to play with. He’s one of those coaches that may wish to stick with his team as an assistant if he gets success in that manner.
