5 x factors for the Saints-Ravens showdown

Saints-Ravens showdown outlook

By: Jake Rajala

The New Orleans Saints are marching into Baltimore to take on the Ravens. The Saints are coming off a gut wrenching loss, while the Ravens demolished the Indianapolis Colts. With that said, I’m going to preview the game by laying out five x factors for the showdown.

Kendre Miller

We saw a spark from Kendre Miller in Week 1. He is shifty, powerful, and he has excellent vision. He had a rushing touchdowns against the Lions. Alvin Kamara should play (despite his injury), but I can’t imagine that he will get a lot of reps. The Saints have had a three headed monster at RB before. I believe they can do it again.

Kaden Elliss

It’s crucial that Kaden Elliss shows up to play. They need athletic linebackers against Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. Not only can Elliss get reps from the LB spot behind the DL, but he can come off the edge and make plays in that manner.

Calais Campbell

Calais Campbell doesn’t only have a very deep voice and be an old soul at 40 years old. He still has a lot of ability. The 6’8 figure can stop the run, open up space for his linebackers to attack. He can also rush the passer at a fine level. He had a modest 6.5 sacks last season. Saints fans may hope Campbell will retire behind Sunday, nonetheless.

Roquan Smith

Yes, I know that Roquan Smith is a quality ILB. Well, I believe he could take over this game. He has the sideline to sideline ability to track down Travis Etienne. Jawuan Johnson was also a star last week and Smith could limit him. Smith also had an interception last week.

Barion Brown

Barion Brown can be the next Rashid Shaheed in my book. Brown was a star as a return specialist this off-season. They need to find more ways to get him the ball. They can do that this week. He can get it in jet sweeps, screens, and deep throws.

Honorable Mention:

Danny Stutsman

Danny Stutsman has made some big hits in his career. This doesn’t mean he’s a star MLB. He needs to react to plays faster and he especially needs to try to be more productive in the passing game. He is in his second year, so it’s fine to be patient with him.
