Best CB targets for the Pats
By: Jake Rajala
It’s a nightmare at the cornerback position for the New England Patriots. Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis will both be out of the line-up for the upcoming game. It’s unclear when they will be back. Hence, it may be wise to acquire a CB. So, I’m going to unfold CB targets for NE.
Marshon Lattimore
I refuse to believe that Marshon Lattimore is cooked at 30 years old. I really feel he has a couple of more seasons in him. I’m not saying he will pay the same dividends that Darrelle Revis did when he signed a free agent with the Patriots. Lattimore was a bit of a slouch last season, but he should get up to speed quickly.
Tre’Davious White
Tre’Davious White may not be the same CB that he was in his early years. However, he found ways to improve in his game. He had a career-high six tackles for loss last season. He also had 10 pass deflections last season. One of the main reasons he may stay away from the Patriots is that the Pats are the worst enemy of the Bills.
Denzel Ward
I wouldn’t be shocked to see Denzel Ward shipped out of Cleveland. Ward is on his last legs, so it makes sense to play for a team that should make the playoffs. We’ve seen Joe Haden come and gone with the Browns. It’s only fair to see Ward play for a new in the back-end of his career.
Josh Jobe
Josh Jobe isn’t Richard Sherman, but he’s one of the best NFC West CBs. He is in his fifth season, so he’s in his prime. He can cover the slot WR and the WR out-wide. He has a PFF grade of 62.9 thus far. He can improve with a change in scenery. Mark my words.
C.J. Henderson
C.J. Henderson has improved in each season. That’s expected. He has six pass deflections this season. That ties with a career-high for him. The crazy part is that we aren’t even half way through the season. He has a potent PFF grade of 76.2, which is 10th among CBs! It isn’t like he’s playing against duds, too. He’s facing Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave.
Honorable Mention
Kool-Aid McKinstry
Kool-Aid has been on a coller coaster this season. He has proved to be a quality CB2. He just isn’t ready to be the CB1 and lock down elite wideouts. We saw him get a pass interference call in the end-zone last week, which allowed the Falcons to easily close out the game.
