Saints at Packers: 5 Saints to watch

Saints at Packers: Preview

By: Jake Rajala

The 5-9 New Orleans Saints travel to the frozen tundra to battle the mighty Green Bay Packers, who are 8-2 in their last 10 contests. It will surely be a tough match for a Saints squad that is without Derek Carr, Alvin Kamara, Rashid Shaheed, Chris Olave, and Taysom Hill. With that said, I’m going to untwine a few Saints players to watch headed into this winter duel.

  • MVS

MVS has been one of the best deep threats in the entire league over the past several games. MVS looks like Desean Jackson, after being axed by Buffalo. MVS has averaged a career high 25.1 YPC! Yes, you read that correctly. Spencer Rattler launched a bomb for 39 yards to MVS last week.

  • Kendre Miller

Kendre Miller has a chance to prove that he can be a RB1 in this league with Kamara out of the lineup. Miller has averaged 4.6 YPC thus far. He showcased his elusiveness and ability to break tackles in the final 2 minutes of the Saints-Commanders game. Miller needs to prove he can stay healthy with this heavy load he will have. He reminds me of the former Saints ball-carrier Khiry Robinson.

  • Bryan Bresee

Yes, Bryan Bresee is a first round pick that has shined with his 7.5 sacks. Nonetheless, he needs to uplift his production quite well in this freezing showdown. He may not have running back abilities like Khalen Saunders, but he is still explosive and a nightmare to block. The Saints need to slow down Josh Jacobs and that starts up front. Bresee has proven to be one of the best pass-rushing IDL, but he needs to be a complete player.

  • Kool-Aid McKinstry

Kool-Aid has been pushed into the fire recently – as Marhson Lattimore is gone and Paulson Adebo is on IR. Kool-Aid will get targeted as a rookie that is weaker than CB1 Alontae Taylor. Kool-Aid has played well recently, but Jordan Love is a better deep throw passer than the vast majority of QBs, so Kool-Aid needs to stay disciplined.

  • Pete Werner

As previously noted, the Saints need to slow down Jacobs. Jacobs will be getting a lot of carries in this dirty, cold showdown. We can expect Demario Davis to show up and make his fair share of plays. Hence, we need to see Pete Werner to show he is worthy of his contract that he signed last August.
