5 best head coach candidates for Saints

Who is the best head coach for the Saints?

By: Jake Rajala

The New Orleans Saints axed Dennis Allen after a 2-7 start. They handed the keys to Darren Rizzi, who was their special teams coach, afterward. Nonetheless, it’s not clear if Rizzi will be the long-term answer. With that said, I’m going to untwine the five best HC candidates for the Saints.

Aaron Glenn

There is no secret that Aaron Glenn is the best fit for the Saints right now. He was a former Saints defensive back and then defensive back coach. He was elevated to DC with the Lions and his defense has shined. His defense recently had two interceptions and a perfect timed sack against the 49ers last Monday.

Mike Vrabel

Mike Vrabel was one of the best coaches to get thrown to the curb last offseason. He took his talents to the Cleveland Browns as a consultant, but he may want to return to the throne with a team. He is physically and mentally ahead of Rizzi.

Jon Gruden

Jon Gruden was offered the Saints offensive coordinator role last offseason, but he turned it down. He may still be intrigued by getting back to the mighty HC role with the right team. Well, Derek Carr may be quite happy with his former HC back. He has already been involved as a consultant with the Saints a couple of years ago.

Darren Rizzi

Darren may not be a Hall of Fame coach, but he still has his locker room playing hard for him. He is very serious about doing all of the little things right. It should be noted that Rizzi has won more games than DA this season.

Brian Flores

Brian Flores is a defensive genius and he wants revenge as a HC after getting fired for having success for the Miami Dolphins. The Vikings defense ranked fourth in PPG allowed! The Vikings also ranked third in sacks.

The Saints want to return to the success that they had with Drew Brees, versus the outcome they had in the 1980s. It starts from up-top and they should acquire a shiny, creative HC moving forward.
