Latest FA targets for the Saints

The New Orleans Saints were a bottom barrel squad last season. With that said, they were closer than it appeared. They only lost to the Eagles by 15-12 and were edged out by the Commanders by a score of 20-19. If they sign a couple of top-notch free agents, they’re a team that could go from terrible to a playoff squad. With that said, I’m going to untwine five FA targets for the Saints.

Josh Sweat

The Saints desperately need more talent on the edge. Cameron Jordan is sadly washed up and Chase Young didn’t exactly pan out last season. Sweat had 8 sacks last season and a modest PFF grade of 75.7. Sweat would really complement Carl Granderson and Bryan Bresee well along the DL.

Dre Greenlaw

The Saints need more talent from their LB group. Demario Davis took a step back last season – as he’s 36 years old. He will likely play one more season at most. Pete Werner is an average ILB. The Saints need to ink a new LB, so they can feel better about Zack Baun playing like an All-Pro outside of the big easy. Dre Greenlaw only played in two games last season, but he notched 120 tackles in 2023 and 127 tackles in 2022.

Hollywood Brown

The Saints could use more juice at WR. Chris Olave is a concussion away from retirement. MVS was their top wideout for half the season. Hollywood Brown would be quite the x-factor for Who Dat Nation. It’s well reported that Brown will be suiting up and looking to dominate against the Bills this weekend.

Mekhi Becton

The Saints could use more beef on their OL. They have to re-shuffle the OL quite a bit last season. The former high-draft pick Mekhi Becton could be an upgrade over LG Lucas Patrick. He also has the flexibility to play tackle. The Saints loved to run the pig-skin last season, so Becton could be used in more run plays.

Russell Wilson

I don’t exactly love the consistency from Derek Carr in his time in the Big Easy. Carr often plays like a Top-10 QB and then struggles against elite foes. He’s the QB version of Mike McDaniel. Carr has also struggled to stay healthy. I’d love to see Russel Wilson join the Saints and compete against Carr and Spencer Rattler for the starting gig.
