Can the Eagles win the Super Bowl?
By: Jake Rajala
The NFC East flexed its dominance by displaying two of their squads in the NFC Championship. Meanwhile, the NFC North failed mightily in the playoffs. The most impressive aspect of the NFC game wasn’t the outcome, but the fact that Washington had a rookie QB in the game! With that said, I’m going to untwine five things we learned from the Eagles-Commanders game.
Saquon Barkley show
Saquon Barkley is better than Derrick Henry. Yes, I said it. Barkley was flat out the best free agent acquisition last off-season. Against the Commanders, Barkley registered three touchdowns, 118 rushing yards, and he averaged 7.9 YPC! I believe that Barkley doesn’t get enough touches. Mr. 2000 yards needs to put up an Super Bowl MVP caliber game against the Chiefs.
Zack Baun
I once wrote about how the Saints let Ninkovich leave and shine elsewhere. I noted how Baun and Rob were similar type of players. Well, Baun followed Rob by leaving and playing outstanding elsewhere. Baun had a crucial forced fumble early in the game. He is a play-maker sideline to sideline. Baun is one of the DPOY finalists.
Marshon Lattimore
The Commanders were hoping that Marshon Lattimore could be a Darrell Revis or even a Jalen Ramsey type of player. After Lattimore got torched his worst enemy in Mike Evans, he struggled to blanket his foes last weekend. He is a good player, but he’s not elite. Plus, he’s 29 this off-season. I foresee him chasing a ring next season with the Commanders of a different juggernaut team.
Jayden Daniels
It’s quite impressive that Jayden Daniels, who is the likely Offensive Rookie of The Year, was even playing in an NFC Championship game as a rookie. It’s safe to say that Daniels wasn’t the reason that he lost. He threw 1 TD to 1 interception, but he his defense allowed a 50 burger on him. Scary Terry helped Daniels by breaking off a huge gain for a TD. Besides that, he didn’t have a lot of help.
AJ Brown
AJ Brown, who notched a 1,000+ yard season, lived up to the moment. He bullied opposing cornerbacks on route to catching six passes for 96 yards and a touchdown. He also averaged 16 YPC! It’s pivotal that Brown can show up in two-minute situations against the Chiefs. Hurts already doesn’t put up a lot of yards, so Brown will certainly need his security blanket in Brown.
