5 free agent targets for the Kansas City Chiefs

Best free agent target for the Chiefs

By: Jake Rajala

The Kansas City Chiefs are competing in the big dance, but this also means they’re less than a couple of weeks from the off-season. Free agency is right around the corner. With that said, I’m going to untwine five free agent targets for the Chiefs.

Chris Godwin

I noted that the Chiefs were a prime destination for Chris Godwin, especially with a few of their WRs entering free agency. Godwin can be the best WR that Mahomes has had since Tyreek Hill. Godwin has a few 1,000+ yard seasons and a Super Bowl in his pocket.

Khalil Mack

Khalil Mack has made it clear that he wants to return. He simply wants to chase a Super Bowl ring. It would be quite imposing for foes if they had to block Chris Jones and Mack at the same time. Mack would stay in the division – after playing with the Raiders and Chargers in his career. Mack had 17 sacks in 2023 and six sacks last season. PFF gave him a grade of 90.4 for his 2024 performance!

Marcus Williams

The secret is out: the Chiefs could use an elite safety. The Honey Badger is no longer there and Justin Reid is a free agent! Marcus Williams can be the x-factor and addition that can help stop Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Williams is still 28, so he’s not exactly washed up yet.

Marcus Davenport

Marcus Davenport can be a big low-risk, high-reward player. He has played like an All-Pro at times and then like a below-average DE. He could help KC have an impressive rotation at DE. Marcus, who played with Marcus Williams, is also 28 years old. Hence, he has a few seasons left in him.

Juwan Johnson

Travis Kelce is reliable late in his career, but he won’t be playing forever. Kelce just came off a game with two catches. This wasn’t just one game where he was ineffective. He is coming off a season where he had career lows in receiving yards and touchdowns! I’d love to see KC get a steal out of Juwan Johnson, who has WR-like catching ability.
