Saints free agents outlook
By: Jake Rajala
The NFL off-season is around the corner. Free agency is one of the most pivotal parts of the off-season. With that said, I’m simply going to untwine which free agents my beloved Saints should keep.
Chase Young
I would love to see the Saints bring back former DROY Chase Young. He is only 25 years old, so he’s still developing. Chase had 66 pressures and 5.5 sacks last season. Plus, Cameron Jordan may have played his last down for the Saints.
Juwan Johnson
Juwan Johnson should come back, as well. He can make outstanding catches. Taysom Hill is also 35 years old, so they need Juwan to hold down the TE spot, at least for this upcoming season.
Payton Turner
Payton Turner has been a bust for the Saints. I doubt he would switch teams and be All-Pro, just as Zack Baun did. Hence, the Saints should move on from him. Marcus Davenport had bigger moments than Turner.
Paulson Adebo
Paulson Adebo was a ball-hawk before getting a season ending injury. It’s important to keep Adebo, especially with Marshon Lattimore off the team. Adebo will likely be the most expensive free agent signing.
MVS
MVS was one of the biggest steals from the free agency pool during the season. He looked like Rashid Shaheed with his deep speed. Who Dat Nation needs to keep MVS.
Will Harris
Will Harris reminds me of Kenny Vaccaro with his big hits and ability to cover slot wideouts. The Saints ought to retain Harris. Harris is 29, so a short term deal makes sense.
Lucas Patrick
Lucas Patrick registered a lousy PFF grade of 64.6 last season. I’d love to see them draft a LG to block next to Taliese Fuaga. Andrus Peat didn’t work out either. Hence, I don’t want to see Lucas return.
Willie Gay Jr.
Willie Gay struggled to fit in at LB. I expect MLB is one of the spots that gets rebuilt this off-season. They don’t need to keep Gay Jr. The former Super Bowl dust from Kansas City didn’t translate that well.
