Homes for best free agent pass rushers

The sack man of the past year was none other than Trey Hendrickson. Trey came over from New Orleans to Cincy. He was far from the only free agent pass rusher to switch squads in their career. J.J. Watt and Khalil Mack also changed squads in free agency. With that said, I’m going to untwine homes for the top FA pass rushers this off-season.

Khalil Mack

Khalil Mack recorded 17 sacks in 2023, but he only notched six sacks last season. At 33 years old, Mack is seeking a date with a Super Bowl-competing team. Josh Sweat is a free agent and Brandon Graham will likely retire this off-season. I’d love to see Mack join an Eagles DL that has Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis.

Haason Reddick

Haason Reddick can move around quite well on defense. I’d like to see him join a Vikings defense that has the hybrid defender Andrew Van Ginkel on one edge. The Vikings will have a more versatile defense ready to compete against two other playoff squads in their division. Hopefully, Reddick doesn’t sit out any more football games in his career.

Chase Young

Chase Young didn’t have double digit sacks last season, but he was a pressure machine. Young is still 25 years old, so he has plenty of time to improve his craft. I’d like to see Young stay on the Saints. Cameron Jordan will likely retire this off-season or the next, so they need to retain some talent long-term.

Demarcus Lawrence

Demarcus Lawrence has Super Bowl written all over his mind. He could choose to stay in the NFC East at Washington or Philadelphia. However, I’d love to see him join a Detroit Lions defense that already has Aidan Hutchinson (despite him coming off an ACL injury). At minimum, Lawrence needs to leave Alcatraz, also known as Jerry Jones’s world.

Dante Fowler Jr.

Dante Fowler Jr. was once regarded as a bust. Well, he shed that label and notched 10.5 sacks, 12 QB hits, and 14 TFLs with Washington last season. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Fowler Jr. should stay in a scheme that allows him to succeed. Plus, he is on a team that has legit Super Bowl chances.
