Free agent WRs
By: Jake Rajala
The free agency pool of wide receivers this off-season is quite gifted. Without further ado, I’m going to project the best landing spots for the prominent free agent WRs.
Stefon Diggs
I foresee Stefon Diggs leaving to pursue a ring, similar to DeAndre Hopkins escaping from Tennessee to Kansas City. At 31 years old, they should pursue a younger WR to grow with the young CJ Stroud.
Fits: Kansas City, Baltimore, and Los Angeles (Rams)
Tee Higgins
I expect Cincy to retain Tee Higgins. Joe Burrow has already said he’s willing to restructure his contract to keep Higgins. Higgins is only 26 years old, so he clearly has a lot of football left in him.
Fits: Cincinnati
Keenan Allen
Keenan Allen has been projected by many teams to leave in FA. At 32 years old, he may not fit into a rebuild coming by Ben Johnson. I could see him joining a Super Bowl contender.
Fits: Buffalo, Green Bay, and Washington
Amari Cooper
It’s safe to say that Amari Cooper doesn’t want anything to do with the Browns QB situation. Cooper is still explosive and a smooth route runner. Cooper will likely get overpaid by a team, which could be Las Vegas (second in cap space).
Fits: Las Vegas, Houston, or Los Angeles (LAC)
Chris Godwin
Chris Godwin has been one of the best slot WRs in the league over the past few years. However, he has had trouble staying healthy. There have been many reports that he will leave in FA. Mike Evans can play like a borderline All-Pro wideout, so that should help heal the wound by Godwin leaving.
Fits: Minnesota, Miami, and New England
DeAndre Hopkins
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I absolutely expect D-Hop to return to KC. He doesn’t need to be WR1 with KC. His chemistry with Mahomes is vital. Hopefully, Travis Kelce doesn’t retire this off-season.
Fits: Kansas City
