Is Aaron Rodgers overrated?

Aaron Rodgers is the oldest current player at 41 years old. The elite quarterback that looks like he needs a shower is searching for a new squad. The question is: should a team sign the greasy, yet four-time MVP in A-Rod.

I don’t believe that Rodgers is washed up (quite yet). He threw for 28 passing touchdowns to 11 interceptions last season. Plus, he had a 63% completion percentage. To be fair, he did have a 90.5 QBR – which was was a career-low in a full season. Nonetheless, he showed glimpses of HOF ability.

A-Rod was Top 10 in passing yards and passing touchdowns last season.

In Rodgers’s last game as a Jet, he was on fire. His chemistry with Davante Adams was showcased, to say the least. Rodgers threw a season-high 4 touchdowns to one int. In addition, he unveiled hell against a stingy Miami Dolphins defense.

It should be noted that Rodgers isn’t defying impossible expectations. After all, Tom Brady played until the age of 44. If Drew Brees didn’t have a bum shoulder, he would have played into his mid 40s.

Sure, Rodgers isn’t an MVP candidate anymore. Nonetheless, he has accurate throwing ability, clutch potential, and a high football IQ. He doesn’t need a defense that was as strong as the Broncos defense that won a Super Bowl with Peyton Manning. I’d still love to see him land in a team like the Steelers. Not only does Pittsburgh carry an elite weapon in DK Metcalf on offense, but they have T.J. Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick on defense. The Steelers ranked 7th in PPG allowed last season.

It was well-reported that the Minnesota Vikings do not want Rodgers as their QB. After passing on the young, very productive QB in Sam Darnold, it shows they have unmatched expectations for J.J. McCarthy. I still believe that Rodgers could be more productive for a season or two than McCarthy, just as the Bucs leaned on Brady over for the former first round pick in Kyle Trask.

Rodgers doesn’t want to go out with a sour taste on his mouth. He wants to win CPOTY and have a strong playoff push. Hell, he may not win his fifth MVP trophy, but he can shut all the haters (which may come mainly from Green Bay and New York) and come out as an old, top-notch QB.
