Will Cincy trade Trey Hendrickson?
Trey Hendrickson has been arguably the top edge rusher over the past couple of seasons. He knocked out 17.5 sacks last season and 17.5 sacks in the season prior! He also had a career-high 36 quarterback hits and a personal best 19 tackles for loss. With that said, Hendrickson wants to be paid like a Top-3 pass rusher.
Well, it hasn’t been smooth sailing. Hendrickson clearly hasn’t been paid and it was even reported by NFL rumors that he could sit out regular season games. We witnessed Haason Reddick sit out last season. With that said, there has been a lot of speculation that Cincy could trade Hendrickson. Well, I’m going to untwine five landing spots for Trey!
Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions need to be aggressive to get over the hump and play in the big dance. They have Aidan Hutchinson, who may also be a Top-5 edge rusher. He was leading the league in sacks before getting injured. It also should be noted that Marcus Davenport has only played in six games in the prior two seasons combined.
New Orleans Saints
Trey Hendrickson has chemistry with the New Orleans Saints – as he played with NO for four seasons. The Saints also have question marks at DE. This will most likely be the last season for Cameron Jordan. Chase Young inked a contract extension, but he’s all over the map with production.
Los Angeles Rams
Les Snead hasn’t been scared to acquire top-shelf figures in the past. The Rams also failed to properly replace Aaron Donald and Von Miller. I’d love to see Hendrickson play in a Rams uniform in one of the most competitive divisions. After 49ers LT Trent Williams retires, Hendrickson can bring hell down on SF.
Las Vegas Raiders
Tom Brady will lose sleep trying to improve the team in any way possible. If LV can bring in Hendrickson, the Raiders could have an all-time best edge rushing duo with Maxx Crosby and Hendrickson. Plus, the Raiders need to add ammunition on defense – as they play against Patrick Mahomes, Bo Nix, and Justin Herbert in six games.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars have Travon Walker and a modest DE in Josh Hines-Allen. However, Hendrickson is the type of player that can bring them over the hump. Their division is up for grabs, to be fair. I’d love to see the Jags branch out, especially if they want to figure out if T-Lawrence can win with a scary roster.
Honorable Mention:
Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers are the most slept on NFC team in my opinion. Bryce Young came back from the dead to look like a borderline Pro Bowl QB. They also don’t have a Top-5 NFC team in their division in my opinion. They just need an elite chip to separate themselves from a few mediocre squads.
