Micah Parsons can win DPOY

At 25 years old, Micah Parsons is on path to becoming one of the best defensive players of all time. He’s the defensive version of Patrick Mahomes. With that said, I believe it’s time for Parsons to separate himself from the elite players of the league and grab hold of the shiny Defensive Player of The Year trophy.

• Division foes

The pass protection in the Boys division is mediocre at best. The Washington Commanders were 20th, the Philadelphia Eagles were 21st, and the New York Giants were 22nd in sacks allowed. He registered 8 sacks against his divisional opponents last season! It’s clearly open season for Parsons in his division showdowns.

• Health

Parsons wasn’t only dominant, but he managed to be a Pro Bowl player while missing four games last season! I believe he would have put up career numbers and would have made a serious DPOY case. After all, he was second in DPOY voting as a rookie, second in DPOY as a sophomore, and third in DPOY voting in 2023! Although, his team struggled, which would hurt his DPOY case.

• Other pass rushers

Aaron Donald is retired, Khalil Mack is coming off one of his worst seasons, and T.J. Watt is coming off one of his less productive seasons. There is a void for Parsons to enter and aspire to be the best defenders in this league. A huge reason that CB Patrick Surtain won DPOY was because there wasn’t a pass rusher that took over games last season.

Honorable Mention

• Healthy Dak Prescott

A high-end QB makes everybody’s life easier. If the Boys have a healthy Dak Prescott, there will be more fireworks. Hence, the Boys will force opponents to drop back and pass more, which allows Parsons to pin his ears back and get after the QB.
