Who is the best WR target for the Boys?
By: Jake Rajala
The Dallas Cowboys have a Top-5 wide receiver in CeeDee Lamb (as he’s made his fourth straight Pro Bowl), but there’s question marks afterward. Jalen Tolbert isn’t that imposing (49 catches for 610 yards) at WR2. The Boys also let Brandin Cooks leave, so there are holes at WR2 and WR3 on their roster.
With that enunciated, I’m going to untwine five WR targets for the Boys.
- Amari Cooper
In a galaxy long ago, Amari Cooper was a Dallas Cowboy. He may just want to return home. Cooper has been a force as of late. In 2023 – he had 1,250 yards and 17.4 – which were both personal best figures. “Blogging The Boys” pegs Cooper as a proper fit for the Boys.
- Keenan Allen
Keenan Allen may be 32, but he has a lot of gas left in the tank. In 2023, he registered 1,243 yards, which was an all-time best for him. He had 744 yards with a rookie QB last season. He can certainly shine more with a stat machine at QB.
- Darnell Mooney
I don’t believe that the Atlanta Falcons offense will put up fireworks and mop the floor against their foes. I believe this would make some pieces, such as Darnell Mooney, expendable. Mooney had 992 yards and five TDs last season. He had a modest PFF grade of 74 last season.
- Rasheed Shaheed
Rasheed Shaheed has really had his moments, but he hasn’t quite found consistency. He has proven to be quite the deep threat and return specialist (making first-team All-Pro in 2023). The Saints may find him expendable for the right deal, especially with Chris Olave and Brandin Cooks on the team.
- OBJ
OBJ isn’t dead yet. He can still play multiple WR spots and shine in key moments. I will give him a pass for being non-existent on a talented WR group in Miami last season. I’d like to see the 32 year old give one more crack at it. Jerry Jones also likes glamorous players.
