Who is a tradeable player on the Saints?
By: Jake Rajala
The New Orleans Saints have a somewhat decaying roster headed into the 2025 season. Hence, it wouldn’t be a surprise if rebuilt many positions on their roster, particularly through a trade. So, I’m going to untwine five tradeable players on the Saints.
Chase Young
Chase Young is gifted, but he’s inconsistent and young. Hence, there will be some teams that believe they can groom him into being a stud. Young inked a contract for three years worth $51 million. I believe it was a desperate move given that Cameron Jordan will retire after this upcoming season. I don’t believe Young will earn his income and be a Pro Bowler this upcoming season.
Derek Carr
Spencer Rattler arguably has more upside than Carr. He just needs time to grow and have chemistry with a healthy offense. Rattler didn’t have Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed last season. If Rattler is on the same verse as Carr, the Saints could trade away Carr and get a few pieces in exchange for Carr.
Taysom Hill
Taysom Hill will most certainly play for 2-3 more seasons at most. He’s turning 34 in August. Most RBs and WRs are washed up by the age of 34. Hill is also quite an expensive asset. It wouldn’t be a complete shock if the Saints ship out Hill. The Denver Broncos would be an ideal destination, given Sean Payton’s experience with Hill.
Kendre Miller
Kendre Miller has upside, but he can’t stay on the field. He is a bust – given he was taken in the third round. Miller could be worth a 6th or 7th draft pick. He’s also 22 years old, which should make a team excited about his potential.
Chris Olave
The Saints could deal away some offensive players to replace people on defense like Cam Jordan, Demario Davis, and Tyrann Mathieu. They may also want to ship out Olave to get a higher draft pick to select a QB!
Honorable mention:
Bryan Bresee
Bryan Bresee had 7.5 sacks last season, but that didn’t tell the whole tale. He still earned himself a dreadful 36.5 PFF grade – which placed him at 203rd out of 219 DTs. Bresee can have bursts of productivity when rushing the passer, but the Saints need more beef at DT that can stop the run, especially with MLB Demario Davis soon retiring.
