When will the Raiders acquire a WR?
By: Jake Rajala
The Las Vegas Raiders have a tight end with Hall of Fame potential by the name of Brock Bowers. All he did was haul in 112 catches for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns. This helped him earn All-Pro honors as a rookie!
Well, the Raiders are missing quality weapons after Bowers, particularly at the WR spot. Jakobi Meyers will haul in around 1k yards, but he’s not going to earn a Pro Bowl spot. He also turns 29 this season. I’d love to see acquire a new WR right now, especially with Las Vegas playing in a division where three teams reached the playoffs last season.
The Raiders sit second in cap space!
I’d love to see the Raiders pull in a couple of wideouts. After all, they were aggressive to bring in Geno Smith. Tyler Lockett would be a brilliant pick-up – as he has experience with Carroll and Smith. Michael Thomas would also be a fine value pick-up. He can be a nice slot outside WR, while Bowers dominates from the slot.
I would also like to see Vegas break the bank for a wideout. Brandon Aiyuk may be a wise choice. He’s gifted, young, and he’s currently playing in a different division. In 2023, he was second-team All-Pro – as he hauled in 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. Tyreek Hill could be another wise option. Hill hit a bit of a wall last season, but I would say Tua’s arm strength didn’t help Hill take the top off the defenses. Hill was once voted as the NFL’s best overall player not too long ago.
The Raiders missed out on DK Metcalf, Cooper Kupp, and Stefon Diggs. They could still claw back to the WR pool and bring home a top-notch wideout. I’d prefer to see LV bring in a new WR before pre-season to work on chemistry.
