5 free agent pass rushers for Saints to target
By: Jake Rajala
The New Orleans Saints haven’t exactly terrorized opposing signal-callers. They were 19th in sacks last season. With that said, I believe there is room for the Saints pass rush to grow. Hence, I’m going to untwine five free agent pass rushers for the Saints to target.
Yannick Ngakoue
Yannick can still play at a high level. He has 70.5 career sacks, 148 QB hits, and 72 TFLs. He had four sacks, six TFLs, seven QB hits, in 13 games in 2023. I’d love to see him on a one-year deal. He can make Chase Young sweat over his job each day.
Matthew Judon
Matthew Judon would be an excellent value pick-up by Who Dat Nation. Judon had 5.5 sacks – which was tied with Young’s sack total. Judon also had 9 QB hits and seven tackles for loss. Judon may be coming off an average season, but there are still glimpses of the player that unveiled 15.5 sacks in 2022.
Anthony Barr
Anthony Barr brings versatility to any team. He would fit in great with Brandon Staley’s hybrid defense. Barr could drop into coverage and bring the heat off the edge. The four-time Pro Bowler reminds me of Zack Baun, who just played like an All-Pro for Philly.
Randy Gregory
Randy Gregory can bring the speed off the edge that the Saints haven’t had since Junior Galette. Gregory had 8 QB hits, 3.5 sacks, and six TFLs last season. He could be a fantastic low-risk, high-reward edge player.
Justin Houston
Justin Houston hasn’t officially retired just yet. He can bring experience and versatility to any team. He had 9.5 sacks in 2022. He did sit out 2024, as he’s looking for the best team to join. This reminds me of Dwight Freeney or James Harrison joining a playoff contender right before they retire.
