Should the Dolphins ship out Tyreek Hill?
By: Jake Rajala
Tyreek Hill has proven to be one of the best wide receivers over the past few seasons. After all, he was voted as the best player in the league for his production in 2023 (1,799 yards, 13 TDs). With that said, Hill has been squabbling a bit about situation in Miami.
Hill agreed to a three year deal worth $90 million on August of 2024. It would be risky to extend him beyond a few years – as he is 31 years old. This made him the seventh highest paid wideout in the league.
With that said, the question is: should the Phins trade Hill?
I believe they should trade Hill. Besides Hill, they still have Jaylen Waddle, who is one of the most explosive wide outs in the league. Plus, they could use draft picks in exchange for Hill to draft a pair of wideouts, just as the Pats drafted DeMario Douglas in the sixth round and Kayshon Boutte in the sixth round.
Hill is a Top-5 WR in my opinion, but he is coming off his least productive season since 2019. I believe it’s time to get the house for him, before he potentially has another borderline 1k season.
With the Patriots and Jets going under a mild rebuild, this is the time to ship out Hill for early draft picks, and select a few stud rookies. Ashton Jeanty would be a fine partner to Tua. The current Phins RB is De’Von Achane, who is a middle-of-the pack RB. They could also draft a defensive back to help them face Josh Allen, otherwise known as the 2024 MVP, twice a season.
Hill is a sure-fire first-ballot Hall of Famer, but business is business. We witnessed Randy Moss play for four different teams in his past three seasons! I hope Hill doesn’t switch to a few different teams, but it would make sense for him to play for one new team.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Tyreek Hills seeks to play for a team that’s contending for the Super Bowl. Hill may seek to follow Aaron Rodgers, especially if he goes to the Pittsburgh Steelers or Minnesota Vikings. We witnessed Davante Adams sought out to play with A-Rod.
