Best landing spots for Tyron Smith
By: Jake Rajala
Tyron Smith has been one of the best offensive tackles over the past decade. Well, he is currently a free agent seeking his next squad. With that said, I’m going to untwine the best landing spots for Tyron Smith.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints have been projected to draft an OT – as they have two, young underperforming OTs in Taliese Fuaga and Trevor Penning. Fuaga had a PFF grade of 65.7 – which places him as the 53rd best OT. Meanwhile, Penning registered an PFF grade of 60.2 – which slots him as the 75th best OT.
Cincinnati Bengals
Amarius Mims is far from a quality, NFL-ready OT. He brought home a PFF grade of 57.8 last season and that makes him the 96th best OT. The Bengals ranked 22nd in sacks allowed last season.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs need to stay aggressive if they want to return to the big dance. Jaylon Moore isn’t a quality OT. Smith could be an upgrade and help stop prolific pass rushers from terrorizing Mahomes. They couldn’t block the Buccaneers or the Eagles in the Super Bowl.
Dallas Cowboys
“Hello Darkness, my old friend”
The Boys could really benefit from the arrival of a talented LT. Tyler Guyton is pegged with an 49.4 grade – which makes him the 116th best OT. Ouch. The Boys need more beef if they want to beat the reigning Super Bowl Champions in the Eagles.
Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears gave up the most sacks last season. They have two mediocre offensive tackles right now. I’d love to see Smith join their OT group and the two best OTs can start.
Honorable Mention:
New York Jets
The New York Jets could use more talent in blocking edge rushers. Olumuyiwa had a PFF grade of 61.2 last season. They need to be extra talented at stopping foes pass rush with a young QB in Justin Fields this upcoming season.
