Josh Allen could win MVP

By: Jake Rajala

Josh Allen won MVP last season, which is known by everyone who doesn’t live under a rock. He didn’t only have prolific stats, but he defeated the Detroit Lions and the Kansas City Chiefs in the regular season. Sadly, he was defeated by Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship. With that said, I’m going to untwine a few reasons he can win MVP again.

• Division

Allen went 5-1 against his division foes last season. The Bills backup QB Mitchell Trubisky played in the lone division loss. With that said, I fully expect Buffalo to dominate their division again. Justin Fields, who is pegged as the Jets QB, was a slightly below average QB with the Steelers last season. The Pats were 4-13 last season and they didn’t make any huge additions to make me believe that they will go from worst to first. Meanwhile, the average Miami Dolphins team may lose Tyreek Hill.

• Defensive Line

The key for defeating the Chiefs is to harrass Patrick Mahomes without blitzing. The Bills have a DL that can get after Mahomes. The Bills inked Joey Bosa, who had 5 sacks and 13 QB hits in 14 games last season. He’s made five Pro Bowls in his career. Gregory Rousseau had 8 sacks last season. Ed Oliver had a poor 2024 season in terms of sacks, but he unleashed 9.5 sacks in 2023. They did lose Von Miller, however.

• James Cook

James Cook is making his brother (Dalvin) proud. He ran for a league high 16 TDs last season. He punched his second straight Pro Bowl nod. Furthermore, he is averaging 4.9 YPC in his career. Cook shined in the biggest moments. He averaged 5.1 YPC in the playoffs – including two touchdowns against Kansas City in the AFC Championship. Cook is 25 years old, so he is entering his prime, and I expect him to take a step up next season.

Allen is pushing to be a Hall of Fame QB. If he can win another MVP ring or Super Bowl, I’d say deserves to be in the consideration to get a gold jacket. I’d say he’s a step behind Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes in terms of a Hall of Fame resume.
