Predictions for Draft Night
By: Jake Rajala
Draft day is officially here! The next chapter for 32 young men takes place at Green Bay today. With that said, I’m going to untwine five bold predictions for Draft night.
Ashton Jeanty is a Top-4 pick
Ashton Jeanty has Alvin Kamara and Marshawn Lynch potential. He is flat out an elite RB in space. We’ve witnessed Saquon Barkley win Offensive Player of The Year – which led his team to win a Super Bowl. The impact from quality running backs can’t be understated. It’s expected that the Jags draft a RB at fifth overall. Hence, I believe a team will trade past the Jags and swing big for him. I don’t expect a team to trade all their picks for him, however.
Jaxson Dart will be a Top-10 pick
It’s been reported by Sports Illustrated that Jaxson Dart will not fall below pick 9. Of course, the Saints hold the ninth overall pick. They clearly like him more than Shedeur Sanders. I love the upside of Dart. Spencer Rattler could still start in 2025.
Mason Graham will be a Top-5 pick
Mason Graham has Chris Jones and Jalen Carter potential. Both defensive tackles were playing in the prior Super Bowl, too. He single-handedly beat Ohio State. He has the size and explosiveness to beat double teams. He’s also a very safe pick.
Shedeur Sanders isn’t a Top-25 pick
I believe that Shedeur Sanders will get Lamar Jackson and Aaron Rodgers treatment. He will slide into the back-end of the first round. I believe a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers or New York Giants will trade back and select him. He still has a lot of up-side, but I don’t believe he’s a Top-2 QB, despite Mel Kiper slotting him as the best QB in the draft.
A team will trade for the second overall pick for Travis Hunter
Travis Hunter is absolutely the best overall prospect in the draft. He can be a 1k receiver and a Pro Bowl corner. I believe a team like the Las Vegas Raiders or New York Jets will trade up for him. Sauce Gardner and Hunter may be the best CB tandem in the league.
