NFC South QBs

The NFC South has a case of complex quarterbacks. It’s quite hard to project how successful the NFC South QBs will be. With that said, I’m going to rank the NFC South QBs.

4. Michael Penix Jr

Michael Penix Jr. is still going through growing pains. He threw for 3 touchdowns to three interceptions last season. To be fair, he only played in three games a season ago. It appears clear that the Falcons will stick with Penix Jr through the thick and thin. I expect Kirk Cousins to be traded.

3. Bryce Young

Bryce Young really came into a zone in the second half of last season. After coming back from getting benched after two games, he came back with revenge. Young may not be an All-Pro QB, but he could be as sharp and accurate as the likes of Alex Smith or Tony Romo. PFF gave Young a grade of 74.4.

2. Derek Carr

I’m going to assume that Derek Carr is the QB at some point for the Saints in 2025. They may suffer without him and even miss the playoffs. Nonetheless, he will play like a Top-15 QB when he’s healthy. Furthermore, Carr could be the QB in 2026, despite Tyler Shough on the roster. After 2-3 more seasons, Shough or Spencer Rattler could start.

1. Baker Mayfield

Baker Mayfield is flat out the best QB in the NFC South. All he did was throw 41 touchdowns last season. He had a PFF grade of 86, which was ninth among QBs. He also swept the Saints, who gave Tom Brady nightmares.
