Time to replace George Pickens
By: Jake Rajala
The Pittsburgh Steelers questionably traded George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, where he will join forces with Cedee Lamb. This leaves a void at the Steelers WR spot. Hence, I”m going to untwine five WRs that the Steelers may want to acquire to replace Pickens.
Brandon Aiyuk
Brandon Aiyuk has been a heavyweight in his career. Right now, I believe he’s a borderline 1k wide receiver. The 49ers have explored trade options for Aiyuk in the past. Even if Deebo Samuel is gone, I believe SF may ship out Aiyuk, too. According to Mike Florio, the 49ers would “love” to trade Aiyuk to Pittsburgh.
Christian Watson
Christian Watson is the odd man out in the Packers WR room, especially after Matthew Golden arrived. There is still no denying his ability. All he did last season was average 21.4 YPC last season. He also missed a couple of games last season. The Packers will likely trade him before offering a significant contract to him in my opinion.
Tyreek Hill
If the Steelers want to swing for the fences, they should take a sharp look at acquiring Tyreek Hill, who was the best overall player in 2023! Hill can even make Mason Rudolph look a lot better than he is. Hill doesn’t exactly fit the youth faces on the Dolphins offense. The current WR2 Jaylen Waddle can also elevate himself and be a quality WR1 and Pro Bowler, too.
Tim Patrick
Tim Patrick can make some magic happen as a WR3. He recorded 394 yards a season ago. I still believe he can still be the WR he was in 2022 and 2023, where he hauled in 742 yards and 734 yards. Patrick is the oldest WR on this list so far, as he’s 31.
Treylon Burks
Treylon Burks is still a gifted, versatile WR. However, the former 2022 first round pick went to IR on Week 6 with a torn ACL. He is still looking for the right home and scheme to lift up. He’s also 25, which makes him the youngest wideout on this list.
