Best Gabe Davis landing spots right now
By: Jake Rajala
Gabe Davis was recently released by the Jacksonville Jaguars. This came a year after signing a $39-million-dollar contract. With that said, I’m going to untwine the best landing spots for Gabe Davis.
Buffalo Bills
Gabe Davis was once a playoff monster with the Buffalo Bills. The Bills may have a newfound philosophy where they don’t believe they need a wideout to win a Super Bowl. Nonetheless, Davis may be an exception, as he has chemistry with Josh Allen and more experience than the Bills three starting WRs.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints were reportedly interested in wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan in the first round. They have also been linked to Amari Cooper. Perhaps they could spend a bit less on a WR that still has gas left in the tank at 26 years old. The Saints brought in Brandin Cooks already. However, his outlook is murky at this stage in his career, as he’s 31 years old. Chris Olave also missed nine games last season and Rashid Shaheed missed 11 games last season!
Cleveland Browns
I really don’t like the outlook at the Browns QB spot and WR spot. They were somewhat lucky for getting Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round. He can be the building block at QB. However, they need more young guns at WR. I understand they don’t want to give up (likely) early draft picks in the future, but they should still sign more “young, FA weapons” to compete. Davis could realistically start at WR2 across from Jerry Jeudy.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs have been aggressive at landing FA WRs (and FA RBs) over the past couple of years. They brought in DeAndre Hopkins, JuJu, and Hollywood Brown. Perhaps they are interested in bringing in Gabe Davis to duke it out for WR3 reps. If they sign him, they don’t have to worry about playing against him!
Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings need more ammunition at WR, especially with defenses focusing on Justin Jefferson. The Vikings could use another weapon to get them over the hump. Jordan Addison is a quality WR2, as he unleashed 875 yards and nine touchdowns a season ago. Jalen Nailor and Davis could duke it out for WR3 reps.
Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders weren’t quite able to bring back Hunter Renfrow. That doesn’t mean they can’t bring in a savvy veteran in Davis. The rookie Jack Bech is the WR2 in my opinion. The question is: who will be the WR3? Davis should have a prime spot to help Jakobi Meyers and Brock Bower get back to the playoffs.
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders are the most underrated team in the NFC right now. They haven’t slowed down over the past several months. They brought in Marshon Lattimore and Deebo Samuel. I’d like to see the Commanders reel in another quality weapon for Jayden Daniels – whether that is by a trade or by an FA signing!
