Ranking the top WRs in the NFC South

Best WRs in the NFC South

By: Jake Rajala

The NFC South doesn’t exactly have the best group of wide receivers. Nonetheless, I’m going to put my best foot forward and rank the best WRs in the NFC South.

8. Darnell Mooney

Darnell Mooney is coming off his second best season, where he recorded 992 yards and five touchdowns. He also made a career high 15.5 YPC. PFF handed him a grade of 74. Mooney should get somewhat of a pass for not blowing by his competition, as his starting QB was a pedestrian veteran who was benched in Week 16.

7. Rashid Shaheed

If Rashid Shaheed stayed healthy, he would have recorded between 900 and 1,000 yards. I’m already sold on Rashid. I believe he can be one of the best deep-threats in the NFL. He notched 17.5 YPC. Let’s not forget he was first-team All-Pro as a return specialist He didn’t quite have enough snaps for a PFF grade in 2023.

6. Adam Thielen

Adam Thielen is like fine wine. He continues to produce as he ages. Thielen will most certainly retire after this upcoming season. I still expect Thielen to go out guns blazing and have several hundred receiving yards. He recorded 1,014 yards in 2023.

5. Tetairoa McMillan

It’s hard to rank Tetairoa, as he has never played an NFL snap. I still love his potential and believe he will be a WR1 on the Panthers. He can make impressive contested catches, which will help him dominate in the red zone. Bryce Young is also a lot more impressive than he was at the beginning of last year, which will only help him.

4. Chris Godwin

Chris Godwin is blatantly one of the best slot weapons in the league. He had a season ending knee injury last year, but he unveiled three straight 1k-yard seasons between 2021 and 2023. Godwin thrives with defenses focusing on stopping Mike Evans. It’s impressive that Baker threw 41 touchdowns without Godwin for most of the season.

3. Chris Olave

Chris Olave is quick twitch and he has deep speech. He can also make contested catches and one hand catches. Olave had an injury last season, where he missed nine games. However, he still has a potent resume, as he unleashed a 1k-yard season in 2022 and a 1k-yard season in 2023. PFF also handed Olave a grade of 82.4.

2. Drake London

Drake London is the most underrated WR in the entire NFL. He unleashed 100 catches, 1,271 yards, and nine touchdowns last season. PFF gave him an impressive grade of 87.8 – which was eighth among WRs. It’s important to note he is only 23, so he has an infinite amount of potential

1. Mike Evans

There is no doubt: Mike Evans is the best NFC South WR. There is also no denying the fact that Mike Evans is also a future Hall of Famer! He missed three games and he still recorded 11 touchdowns and 1,004 yards. In 2023, he brought home a league leading 13 touchdowns.
